On Keeping Hope– Be Hopeful

There are many things that will try to struck you down in this life, but maintaining your hope is very very important to staying on a true path. I realize not everyone who comes across my blog may be of faith…Yet to me that is the true meaning of evil in this world. The good vs evil. The true and untrue. The good angel vs the little devil on your shoulder who will you pay more attention too? Who will you let whisper into your ear? The devil and God. A war within ourselves maybe or watching others struggle in their own battles.

I can’t imagine anyone out there who would consciously want to loose this war. Yet we forget it all the time. Be conscious of what is happening to you, that the bad things that happen may be trying to bring you down. Instead of getting down about all that goes wrong… Bring hope to the table, and look true evil in the face and shout to the world… I WILL NOT LOOSE. I will win the war and put my biggest hopes for my plate. Good WILL prevail <3

Be someone who refuses to be attacked in this world. Stay focused on all of the good. Stay full of hope. When the negative comes your way don’t put any energy into it. There’s no time for that life is too short.

Commit To Working Hard this Year

With the new year in full swing and all the resolutions and goals that have been popping up like daisy’s… The New Year is often a time when people decide to make changes in their lives hopefully for the better. One thing that is difficult for people is slowing down their busy every day lives to take more time to truly be themselves. I am hoping myself this year to not only commit to working hard in just one area of my life, but all of them.

I hope to commit to taking time to spend with those I love on a regular basis. Not just my parents. (Who are well deserving of my time I just don’t think I forget to visit them as much as others people.) I hope to commit to seeing my bestie who lives in Vermont more than I have since we graduated College. I hope to commit to seeing all the beautiful cousins I have more often. (Aunts and Uncles too.) I hope to commit to seeing our friends more often and less hermit-ing in to Netflix and Snacks. 😛 hate on me we all do it.

I hope to commit to my place of work and I hope with great intentions that they decide I am a right fit too. I hope to commit my time to working hard with the ever changing technology and to being a great new asset for the team.

I hope to commit to taking more time to do “me” things instead of being consumed into social media. Like what the latest trends are on the YouTube or all the things I can learn how to cook on Pinterest. (Without it there would be no hope in the kitchen for me.)  I hope to commit to writing more on a regular basis. I hope the use all the freed up time I have to be inspired and to inspire. I’ve been stressed out the last few months with alot of life changes which seem to drain me of my extra energy. I hope to commit have more energy by eating more energy producing foods and less sugary flour-y goodness. I hope to use that energy this year and commit to being more creative.

I hope to commit more time into really listening to people and to engage in their lives with more depth. I hope listen to them and understand what they are trying to express, their day to day lives,  and their need for reassurance instead of being so tied up and distracted by modern conveniences.

I hope to commit to slowing down, being in the moment, grateful for everything and Hard Work this year. I hope you commit to great things this year too.

“They have the ability to create the atmosphere of our lives.” I wrote this down when reading a passage in Nelson Searcy’s book Tongue Pierced. There are so many ways I could go when writing on this topic. I’ll try to stay as possible. As I try to do with most posts.

Many times my daily readings bring up the power of words. Even the ones we use in our heads to create thought streams. They have the power to build and they have the power to tear down. It says over and over and over again. I think this ties into an earlier post I wrote on negativity.

How are you using your words everyday? I mean I know not every moment we spend each day is done so with compete seriousness. I’m just saying…Create the atmosphere YOU live in. Try building more often. Encourage others. Build Fallpicthem up too! Build yourself up! Smile big today! Inspire others to do so as well!Build! Build! Build! Build is a weird word if you type it enough times… Make like a tree and branch out! Building with ya words! Here is this pretty picture of one. I miss this part of fall.

Mount Marcy Adventure

In first week of October, my handsome boyfriend celebrated his birthday. He wanted to get out and have a wee bit of an adventure but he wasn’t too sure what he wanted that to be. I knew it would end up being a mixture of spontaneity and small amount of planning but I think we pulled it off pretty well. My boyfriend narrowed it down to some hiking in the Adirondacks. I knew Isaac would want to Go BIG or Go Home so even after showing him all the beginner trails and intermediate ones we decided lets just hike the tallest peak in the state of New York. I mean why not. >.< So Thursday October the 6th we spent 10.5 hours hiking to the top of Mount Marcy and back again. I will tell you up front is wasn’t all pretty. haha. Never listen to the other people on the trial when they say your “Almost There” almost there to them might be a few more hours. >.< Or don’t take my advice and believe it if it helps encouraging to keep moving on. 🙂

Pretty quick into the trip we stopped for a few quick photographs at Marcy Dam. It seems to be quite the popular spot for those who hike the trails often.

On they way up to the peak. We even got to catch some rays of sunshine. I honestly would rather hike in chilly fall weather then a hot sunny day…100% of the time. That won’t always be how it goes though 😛 It was great for not getting too warm or chilly! This little creek here was one of my favorite spots on the trip up. We had a late start for this specific climb. We wanted to move as fast as possible so we could get back before dark…That definitely did not happen. (We spent about 2.5 hours give or take in the dark with some new trail friends. ) I felt as though it was hard to appreciate the beauty of the outdoors when you are in a race to the top of a mountain. Especially one where it takes 7.2 miles to get to the top!!!! Also just so you know 1 mile is about distance of the block my house is on. I can probably walk that in about 12 minutes. 1 mile in the woods up a mountain is nothing like that. 1 mile like that is like 25 in hiking conversions. 😛 😛 😛

I didn’t spend too much time taking pictures from the Trail head to the top. However after spending about 6+ miles in the woods the trail opened up a bit and we realized we were about the hike the Mountain part of the Mountain. There were some tears, I’m not gonna hide it. When I realized we hadn’t even gotten to the Mountain Climbing part of the mountain yet. When we got to this opening….We were both pretty stoked. I guess I didn’t realize how Mountain-ey looking New York State could be. I was in complete awe. It’s one of those moments where your like…I need to get out more. No words for the first glimpse’s of the peaks. I be like oh hey!

Honestly, the whole Mountain Climbing part of the Mountain, (The giant rocks you can crawl up if your like me.) That part (I honestly didn’t think my legs could handle anymore)….Was pretty fun and went by really fast. I mean pretty darn fast. We saw a woman running down the rock faces whilst her dog carried all of their belongings it seemed like. She was literally running down the steep part where I decided crawling was my best option. >.< I can’t even.

Also Isaac and I thought we were probably the last people on the trail on our way up at that time of day. Most people thought we were heading back before the sun set. I would say about 85% of the way up Isaac looked down below where there were some other levels. He saw a man sprinting yess SPRINTING up the rock faces! We then concluded that we COULD not be the last people to the top as long as we BOOKED it on up the rest of the steep inclines. We did beat him but mannnnnnn that guy was moving. I have no idea how people have that level of energy. Maybe he was on some adrenaline rush to the top. Before I knew it we were at the top.

We stopped to enjoy some trail snacks before exploring the top a little bit. I wish we had more time to enjoy at the top like most of the other hikers did. (We got to our hotel really late the night before which threw the whole next day off quite a bit at-least time wise. We did get to see my amazing Uncle Bick for a quick bit, who gave us some great hiking, compassing, and bushwacking advice. Then we spent maybe too much time in Walmart finding snacks, emergency supplies, and some extra Mountain essentials. ) We even got to talk to that crazy sprinting man at the top. He was quite interesting. Had nothing on him but a T-shirt.(Well pants too.) We laughed with him about how fast we saw him moving and how we thought he was crazy. He was all “ya I just wanted to make it up here real quick okay I’m gonna head back.” I even bet that guy made it back before dark.

Don’t mind me and my super cold looking face. Our new friends took a couple pictures of us. Trail people are the best people.

Isaac took this one. ^

We made it!

I’m on top of New York!!!

Isaacs on top of New York!

The way back down. I don’t even have too many words for. I literally was in “autopilot” mode as a new trail friend Joe had put it. After twisting both of my ankles pretty hard (without a sprain just a quick snap and back) and a pretty loud scream from me. We decided it was best to all stick together. It was getting kind of dark and my legs and feet were not doing the best at balancing on top of all the rocks you had to hop to get down many many parts of the trail. Jump from rock to rock it seemed like all until there was probably only 2 miles left to get back to the parked cars. After dusk when it became pretty dark and it wasn’t as hard for your eyes to see where your feet were landing. We learned a little about our new friends. The one gentleman was named Dario and the other was his father in law Joe. Good people. We exchanged some trail snacks and some good stories. We made it home that night. We also hit a Giant Porcupine heading out of the ADKs. Thanks for the adventure HONEY <3! The End

Growing Pains

I often believe that without troubles we would miss out on a lot of opportunities to grow. When times are hard and you feel like the weight of the world couldn’t bring you down any farther…. Remember that all painful struggles can be transformed into beautiful self-growth experiences.

You might think to yourself:

“Some people have it so easy.“

“Other people don’t have to deal with crappy situations like this…Why do I? ” Honestly? Why Me?

If you ask me.. I would never give up any of the times where life was tough! I don’t want to be a person who has everything handed to them and life is as easy as the breeze. I know that what life puts in front of me, I can handle it. Like they say “What won’t kill you, will only make you stronger.” There is so much truth to that!!!!!

Even though these times may not be the happiest, or most peaceful. I trust that there is a reason. I trust that I will grow. I trust that I will be stronger because of it. I myself trust in God.  I know that not all my followers have the same beliefs as me…but I trust in their journeys and beliefs as well and the humble peace that comes from growing pains.

Why? Because I know that those times stretch me in ways that make me uncomfortable but those are the times where I learn the most. They are also where I realize how grateful I am for all the good moments, experiences, people, and truth I do have in my life. They make me grateful for who I am and who I have become because of them.

“Wherefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in injuries, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake for when I am weak, then I am strong.” <3

Never underestimate the power of a Thank you. One thing that I found so beautiful about working at a hotel is the Thank yous I receive

Also I really like the good nights too. I think it’s cute when complete strangers from foreign countries feel the need to say good night. It’s almost like it makes them feel a little more comfortable and at home if they can just say it to one person before they retire to their rooms at the end their day.

This post is about Thank Yous though. Lets stay on point… One day I took note to the vast amount of Thanks yous I received while handing people their keys at check in time. I thought Thank yous make strangers welcoming lighthouses I really like that. It also makes your feel a little bit more comfortable around strangers as if to say, “Hey, I’m not so bad really.” It’s like Thank you = Instant Friend….or at least a pretty cool human being.

Thank yous bring to attention to appreciation for simple acts that are typical things that you would just do normally in the day. Being nice…Those Thank yous are the funniest. Its like oh your welcome I thought being nice was standard but I forget sometimes its not everyone can be. But Thank yous for appreciation are like “Hey thanks for liking my efforts to make your day a little better.”

Don’t forget to say them to the strangers you meet who might have helped make your day a little bit easier. That lady in the check out line at the grocery story who let you go in front of her because you have less items. Yah! SayThank you to her. Or maybe that man who offered a helping hand when it looked like you were carrying too much to handle. Yah say Thank you too him too. It reminds you that there is still good left and the world. Don’t take it for granted. Let them know that their sunshine is muchly appreciated.

I just really like how no matter what our guests native language is, they all know how to say Thank you. A Thank you is universal gratitude that keeps us all connected. It makes me happy, and it lets me know I’m doing a good job.

On Loving Others

So this has come up quite a few times over the last two weeks and has been relevant to so many situations I’ve come into lately. I shared this post on facebook and I’m going to re-share it here…

If your looking for a way to love others better….Here is a good start. Sometimes we don’t realize that even out of love we can cause hurtful and painfulsituations for those around us.

Original Post:

“I woke up this morning thinking about how people forget to LOVE. Don’t put your energy into hurt, anger, & things untrue. Too often do we get distracted from a life meant for truth.

Please if you see people around you struggling, or troubled… Don’t be selfish. You can start today to build. Build the people around you up. Encourage them, with love. Show them the hope. Show them they can be everything they were meant to be. Show them how AWESOME they are. ”

We’re all just human. Don’t forget to put your friends and family first sometimes. Don’t be the one to tear it down. Don’t be the one to tell them all the things they did wrong. Tell them all the things they do RIGHT. “

Too many times I have experienced people telling each other what they do wrong instead of encouraging with kind words. Stay humble. Share love not everyone poor choices and mess ups.  Share all the good things and live in love. <3 🙂

A little while ago in my readings I stumbled upon an exercise where I was instructed to list 5 Things that make me valuable. It is quite simple and a little fun even. It gives you something to think about while being thankful for what you have and who you are as a person. You should try this too after you read mine. 🙂

5 Things that make me valuable:

  • 1. I am loved greater than I can imagine.
  • 2. I am dependable.
  • 3. I have a big heart that’s Full of Love.
  • 4. I am faithful.
  • 5. I am honest.

The second part of the exercise went into things that can destroy my worth. I don’t think I came up with these ones on my own completely. I would like to say if I recall properly my daily reading that day guided me a wee bit. However, they kept me focused on some important simple distractions from living my life intune. The way it was meant to…

5 Things that destroy my worth:

  • 1. Paying attention to lies.
  • 2. Not focusing on Truth.
  • 3. Focusing on the Negative/ Feeding it.
  • 4. Anxiety without Mediation & Prayer Time ….Stick to the plan!
  • 5. Toxic Energy & Paying Attention to it!

If you have further questions about this post or what part of it might mean….Sometimes the things I am trying to express getting received in opposite tones. Feel free to put them in the ask!

Freely Give

So quick we are to take yet forget what happiness giving can bring. So often we are excited for the days of the year we are to receive gifts yet forget how much excitement giving can bring when we see the joy that it brings out in others. That’s what happiness is about isn’t it? True Authentic Joy. Although gifts are a great example of giving and receiving in life; don’t forget to meditate on more than just the obvious paradigm.

There are many ways in which you can give. You can give your time. Which I am sure will be greatly appreciated and enjoyed with the people in your life. Don’t sit alone in your room for too long, or forget to visit relatives you might not have seen in awhile!

You can give your talents. In which ways can you use the talents you hold to help others in your life and community? I’m sure you use them all the time without realize it. Making a conscious effort of how you use them will bring joyto your day. Maybe one of your talents is baking, and that hot apple pie brought taste-filled happiness to your family get together. Maybe you are talented with fixing cars. That flat your sibling just got, that you helped fix could have saved the day. There are many ways in which we use are talents everyday to help the ones we love.

Give Humbly. Give without expecting anything in return. Give without boast or prideful measurements.

Give Wisely. Give a Pure Attitude. Give Gratitude. Give Advice.  Give to someone today.

Words Of Encouragement

Yesterday in my daily readings I came across some good thoughts on encouraging others. The concept was that anyone you passed throughout any day could be carrying invisible signs that say “Encourage Me.” I often feel this when I come across older people wandering alone in shopping centers, or younger people who are struggling with their studies. Sometimes it is people the same age as me struggling with where exactly they want their life to go.

All I know is this. If you see someone, and you can see in their face that they are struggling with something…whether you know them or not. You can always find something encouraging to say. You can see what kind of Joy you might be able to bring to their day, and slightly push them out of whatever is so troubling. Humble yourselves, remember that we all struggle and out of your experiences help others too.

Encouraging words should come naturally. Whether is a simple “You’ve got this!” or an in-depth conversation see what you can bring to the situation…Big or Small.

“Wherefore exhort one another, and build each other up, even as also ye do.” <3
